THIS IS HALLOWEENâŠ
Continuing on from our Autumn crafts we made Halloween decorations from recycled items from our home with residents, family and staff. Creating items to display in our home is always lots of fun and âCrafting not only allows seniors to express their creativity but also offers a great opportunity for socialisation and a sense of accomplishment.â Balmoral Care.

This art project was super easy to create and allowed residents and family of all skills and abilities to take part. It started off with myself creating vinyl faces and Halloween stickers at home using a Cricut machine and vinyl we had stored in our arts room. This allowed residents to be able to peal and stick when we were ready.
We then began painting tin cans which we recycled from our baked bean and soup tins in Halloween colours. Using premixed paint meant this was quick and easy to get started.
Whilst we waiting for the tins to dry we also painted some of our cereal boxes in the Halloween colours as well. Once everything was dried we applied our premade faces to our cans, boxes and milk bottle to create our Halloween characters. From spooky to cute faces allowing something for everyone.
When doing arts and crafts there can be a lot of wastage and the continuing cycle of buying new before using what we have. By using reclaiming recycled materials and using what you have around the house we can reduce the waste we create and using the waste we do have is recycled in the correct bins to be deposed off properly.
